Workouts to Keep an Eye On –
The 2024 NFL Draft has plenty of marquee talent and a substantial amount of that talent will be on display in Indianapolis on Saturday, especially amongst the QBs and WRs. As many as six QBs could get drafted in the first round and Saturday’s workouts will go a long way in determining the pecking order. Historically, top QB prospects tend to not work out at the combine and this year may prove to be no different. But there is an opportunity for several of these QBs to improve their standing. Notably, McCarthy, Penix, and Nix could have big days on the field in Indianapolis and improve their bids to secure first round selection in April. The 2024 WR class has both top end talent and quality depth. Once again, it is likely that several top WR prospects do not run or work out on Saturday. Honestly, Harrison, Odunze, and Nabers are locked in as high first round draft picks and have little to prove in Indianapolis. This class has a deep group of dynamic slot receivers, including Wilson, Worthy, McConkey, Griffin, Smith, Jackson, and Cowing and the pecking order still needs to be sorted out. Scouts will be looking at their 40 times, broad and vertical jumps, short shuttle, and three cone drill times, as well as on field workouts, to help determine how teams stock their draft boards. Amongst RBs, Corum, Lloyd, and Shipley look to be the most athletic RBs at the top of the class and should separate themselves from the pack on Saturday if they run and perform well in on-field workouts. If Estime runs a 4.55 40 or better, he may lock up the top RB slot in April’s draft.
