Specialists Scouting Reports - 2024

Bird’s Eye View: Positional Analysis

No specialist - kicker, punter, or long snapper - is worthy of being a Top 100 pick in April, unlike 2023 when Jake Moody was selected #99 overall by San Francisco. However, there are three draftable kickers - Will Reichard (Alabama), Harrison Mevis (Missouri), and Joshua Karty (Stanford) - and one excellent punting prospect - Tory Taylor (Iowa) available in April in Detroit.

Positional Grade: C

Joshua Karty / Stanford

Strong leg. Made 85% of his career FGs and missed only one extra point. Very reliable with leg strength up to 55 yards.

Will Reichard / Alabama

Very strong leg. Very experienced. Team’s emergency punter and performed well in game against Texas A&M. Made a 50-yard FG v Tennessee. All-time leading scorer in FBS history. Very accurate up to 55 yards.

Harrison Mevis / Missouri

Hit a SEC record 61-yard game winning FG as time expired over Kansas State. Hit the game winning 30-yard FG v Florida. Very strong leg. Very accurate with an over 80% conversion rate but is streaky and has long cold snaps of inaccuracy.

Transfer from South Florida. Very strong leg but not nearly as accurate as desired. Strong leg but only accurate on kicks up to 55 yards. Gets great depth on kickoffs.

Cam Little / Arkansas

Extremely strong leg – ball booms off his foot. Very accurate – especially inside 50 yards. Has the leg to hit up to 60-yards but accuracy really suffers the farther he has to kick.
